Where to Put the Ceramic Ware?
Funded Dec 3, 2019Thank you so much for supporting my request for a ceramic ware cart for my classroom. My students in grades kindergarten through second grade have been busy creating their clay projects and having a place to store them has made a huge difference.
My kindergarteners listened to the book, "Only One You" and we created clay fish using a slab of clay. By storing the clay on the wooden shelves of the ware cart the clay was able to dry evenly. The removable wooden shelf also provided easy access for students to place their clay on the board once they were finished creating their project.
My first graders created a clay pendent that will later be turned into a beaded necklace. Students stamped different designs into their clay as well as stamping their name into the clay. The wooden boards made it easy for the clay to remain flat and smooth while the students worked on their projects. This would not have been possible without their ware cart.
Finally, my second graders created ceramic owls and learned to attach clay to clay. By placing the finished project on the wooden shelves and then covering the ware cart with the plastic sheet that came with the cart, my students' work dried evenly and the clay did not crack.
Having the ware cart in my classroom has made a huge difference. Students will continue to benefit from the ware cart for years to come. We cannot thank you enough for your generosity and your willingness to help.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Gentry
