  • New Year, New School, New Set Up

    Funded Jul 27, 2023

This thank you is long overdue. Your donations to our classroom are used daily to improve our learning environment and student outcomes. The rug has provided us with a space to meet as a whole class, to learn in small groups, and to read independently. The stools are used around our small group table so that students can meet with partners or with the teacher to practice specific skills or conference about their progress. Finally, the dry erase boards are integral to our math work; students use them to solve problems, to share out answers, and to practice math fluency.

It was amazing to have all of these supplies within the first few weeks of school. Anytime we received something new, like the rug or stools, the class was delighted. Then, the real treat came when they received brand new dry erase boards - enough so they each got their own and could keep it in their desks. The dry erase boards are one of their favorite tools for solving math problems.

Again, thank you so much for making this possible for these wonderful 4th graders. It means so much to have the love and support of amazing people like you.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Roffman

  • Every Room Needs a Rug, Every Class Needs a Carpet

    Funded Jul 26, 2019

I really cannot express how grateful we all are that you helped support our classroom in this generous way. Thank you so much for your kindness! I can't wait for the first day of school when my students are able to see what their new classroom will look like, I know they will love it and get so much joy from reading and working in their new space. Thank you!!!!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Roffman

This classroom project was brought to life by Conboy Foundation and 11 other donors.
Do you remember how exciting it was to go to school the first day and seeing what your classroom looked like? The anticipation of finding your seat and gathering together on the rug for your first class meeting? Sadly, when I walked into my new classroom to set it up for the upcoming school year I learned that we didn’t have any rugs. So, where would we gather as a class? What would we do for morning meetings, math circles, or shared and independent reading time? Well, that’s where your donations can help. By donating to this project you are helping establish our new learning community; you are providing comfort and creating a space for us to gather as a class and for students to work independently. I selected the first rug because of its calm color palate, it’s size (which is big enough for our whole class to meet on), and because the squares help students recognize and respect their classmates’ personal space. The second rug is ideal for our new reading area where students will meet with their book groups and where they can choose to go for independent reading time. Together these rugs will help support the flexible learning environment I am striving to establish and will create a space that my students will find inviting as they enter the new school year. But, because I can’t do this on my own, I am hoping that you can help make this new classroom space a reality. Thank you so much!
