This project will reach 16 students with multiple disabilities and autism taught within a low incidence single classroom setting. The students are from low or below poverty line households within Cleveland. The students are taught within a single classroom setting and while they have interactions with typical peers during electives and assemblies, I want to expand their interactions. They are able to access iPads and apps. However, many are capable of so much more.
Traditional paper and pencil is not disability friendly. Chromebooks are essential for students with different abilities. My goal is to teach the Google Suite and start a school newspaper which will aide in inclusion with the typical peers. Students will learn formatting, interviewing, editing and many people skills in addition to job skills by completing a school newspaper.
