We are extremely fortunate to have a K-12 Project Lead the Way STEM curriculum that has effectively sparked the interests of students in the STEM areas. Once students get a taste of the scientific and engineering design processes, their natural curiosity begs for more opportunities to use their problem solving and team work skills. With the use of a variety of educational building sets such as building blocks, bristle blocks, Playstix, Squigz, and other types of building toys, students can work together to design and create amazing structures and put their engineering skills into practice. At the kindergarten level, hands-on exploration is vital in building the skills they need to complete STEM activities and develop an engineering mindset. Being able to purchase a variety of hands-on building toys to use at centers and in our "Makers Space" area will allow students to use their creativity on a daily basis, develop their fine motor skills, and learn how to most effectively and efficiently build, create, and combine different objects to explore structure, function, and design in the classroom. Exploration is key, and with help in this classroom funding project, we can inspire the next generation of problem solvers!
