Funded Sep 29, 2022Thank you again for the wonderful new additions to our occupational therapy room! My students could not contain their excitement when we first opened up the boxes and saw all our brand new games and items! The Gumball Grab game has been a huge hit in particular! It helps promote tripod grasp (used for writing) by using tweezers to pick up small balls. Many of my students struggle with using the appropriate grasp during writing, so this is a fun way for them to improve their grasp without actually engaging in handwriting. Also it works on a variety of other skills including turn taking, following directions, paying attention and so much more!
Using these games and items we will continue to work on improving the necessary skills needed for optimal functioning in the academic environment but in a fun and exciting way!
Once again we are so grateful and appreciative of your donations!”

Sensory Regulation for Attention
Funded Nov 1, 2019My students are having a blast using the resources and materials that you have helped me provide for them! They were so excited to open up the boxes and were even more excited to use all the new materials during our therapy sessions!
We use the tunnel and textured balance stones on a weekly basis to help work on various skills including gross motor coordination, balance, sensory processing skills, strengthening and following multi-step/sequence activities.
Shortly after receiving the materials, one of my students was experiencing a full scale meltdown/tantrum where he was yelling, throwing things, banging on walls and was extremely difficult to calm down. I showed him the body sock and after a few minutes of encouragement to try it he agreed and instantly calmed down within seconds. In this moment I was so grateful to have this item on hand and was so happy that we were able to calm this student down and help him have a better rest of day.
For my next project I would like to get more materials that can help my students with self-regulation and sensory processing so that these materials will be readily on hand for any student who may need them to get through their school day.
All of the items received are utilized on a daily/weekly basis and make a world of a difference to my therapy sessions, our school and most importantly my students!”
