  • Tools for Success

    Funded Dec 1, 2020

My students were so excited when we unboxed our package. They were very eager to be able to put their hands on these items. These resources are currently being used during small group and guided reading groups. Students are able to build and break apart words which helps with their decoding. These magnetic letters are also used under the document camera for online students to see in action. I have seen a tremendous amount of growth in my readers after receiving these resources. Thank you so much for your donations for my grateful students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Loredo

  • Learning Equity Through Literature

    Funded Nov 29, 2020

The books that have been donated to my classroom are a big hit. My students are able to learn different messages and understand them more easily by this literature. We use these books during read aloud time. Students are able to make self to text connections and share their experiences with anything they have gone through that is similar to the characters. This also opens up with our social emotional time. My students and I greatly appreciate your generous donations to help fulfill a classroom library with books about equity.”

    With gratitude,

  • Growing Readers With One Book at a Time!

    Funded Mar 3, 2020

With your donation my students are able to listen to read alouds as well as read independently with engaging books. Not only were these books used in the classroom, but they were also used during virtual teaching at the beginning of the year.

I noticed my students were struggling with comprehending books. They had a difficult time retelling in order. We have used these books to retell in sequential order while being sure to use transition words. Students were able to make personal and text connections with the series books. They also worked on character traits.

Each student in the classroom has enjoyed reading and listening to these books. Once it has been read it goes into a teacher read aloud bin. The students are alway eager to get their hands on these fun and engaging books. Without your donation a love for reading would have not been conducted.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Loredo

  • Alexa in the Classroom

    Funded Jul 24, 2019

Having an Alexa in my classroom has been a hit! We use it every day. Our Alexa is used to set a timer while students build their reading stamina during their independent reading time, play soft classical music during independent writing time, and play kids bop music during indoor recess. The Alexa in the classroom makes it easy for the teacher when the music needs to be started and when the volume needs to be adjusted. I have downloaded a reading app to the Amazon tablet to help readers enjoy reading on a technology device. Other educational apps will be added soon for the students to use for Phonics, Reading, and Writing.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Loredo

The use of a listening station will help increase the students love for reading by being exposed to texts that are a bit challenging to read on their own. My first graders will have an opportunity to partner read, read in groups, or read independently. They will be able to track the print of the story with their finger and learn the pronunciation of unfamiliar words. By donating to this project you will assist my students with making reading fun and enjoyable. You will be helping my students visit places through books that they may never get a chance to actually visit.
