Keep Calm and Go to the Cozy Calm Down Corner
Funded Jul 24, 2019I want to thank you all for your generous donations for my cozy calm down corner.
My students have been using this corner when it is needed throughout the day. In fact this corner has served many purposes. One of my students was adjusting to being on the second floor of the school. This student used the cozy calm down corner to calm down and adjust to the new floor that he will be on for the school year. Some of my students prefer to conduct their independent reading time in this corner. Another student was very frustrated with a math equation and took three minutes in the corner and returned back to work to finish.
When my students first saw the cozy calm down corner their eyes and mouth opened wide! They were so excited and interested in all of the stuff in the corner. They thanked me for bringing these materials into the classroom and I told my students that very generous and kind people helped make it happen. My students often ask if they can sit in the bean bag or on the pillow. Sometimes when we are feeling full of fidgets on the carpet, we bring the large pillow down as a seat on the carpet.
My students are using the materials you all contributed to and it makes a great difference in my classroom. We are already learning many things in our classroom. In ELA we are learning about how students access education all around the world. In math we are learning how to add and subtract and recognize odd and even numbers. In social studies we are learning about maps and geography. During social emotional learning we are learning about diversity and acceptance. Your contribution to this project is and is going to continue to help my students be present and comfortable throughout these lessons!
I can not thank you enough for funding my project.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Ramaglia
