Research shows that one single group/class of students has a wide range of learning styles and needs. As a first-year teacher, I am more than excited about introducing flexible seating options to my students to foster their learning. Having a place where students can sit comfortably allows students to gain interest in their learning. This allows students to develop a sense of taking responsibility for their learning. Students become aware of the effectiveness of sitting at the front of the carpet during a lesson versus the back of the room. They develop the ability to reflect on their attentiveness and gain an understanding of how to improve. are able to reflect on how attentive they were to instruction
A classroom carpet is one of the ways I as the teacher can facilitate flexible seating options in our room. By doing so, the diverse learning needs of all students are met. Learning now becomes rich and successful. Whereas before students may have viewed learning as an anxious time and a struggle. Having a classroom rug helps me design a warm and inviting space where students feel they belong.
