First grade is the building block that helps to create a future of confident, enthusiastic, goal-oriented learners. Living in a blue-collar community, many students rely on school to be their consistent form of learning, structure and play. The STEM and science tools are crucial to making this part of their daily learning. Having a leveled classroom library will allow so many students to read at home each night, when many children have no books at all. In order to have all students reading on grade level, children should be reading at home each night. Our large English language learner population will help students to practice outside of the classroom. Flexible seating will help to incorporate a calm, relaxed environment where students can create and think at their comfort level. Partner work and small group assignments will be more functional knowing that students have appropriate seating. On behalf of myself and the future first graders, we thank you immensely for your support and generosity. The power in numbers creates the power of success!
