I want to develop for my students a Free Voluntary Reading (FVR) Library in our classroom. Having reading materials in Spanish helps them acquire the language, learn new vocabulary and culture, and increases proficiency. It will also make them stronger readers of English language. I will incorporate FVR every day during the beginning of our classes with all grades, and levels for the first 10-15 mins of class. By creating a Spanish FVR Library in class, it will let them have instant access to Spanish reading material at their level and lets a “reluctant” reader have an option to choose to read a magazine instead of a novel. The different monthly magazines will have current interesting topics and issues that will peak their interests.
