Imagine yourself in middle school, completing your work at your desk all day, knowing that you would work better if you had the means to sit work on the floor, at a lower desk, or even standing up. This was exactly how I was taught, and I know that if I had been provided the opportunity to find a comfy spot around the room to work with my clipboard or lap desk, I would have been more productive, focused, and appreciative of my learning environment. Giving students options for where and how they want to work not only allows them to take ownership of their learning, it also allows them to discover in which environments they are able to give their best effort. These materials will also provide students with a sense of pride in their classroom. As a first year teacher, I am entering the field with very little resources and even less funds to provide my students with the materials I know that they deserve. Every child should feel a sense of pride and comfort when they walk into their classroom. My hope is to be able to create such an environment with these materials.
