  • Bringing SEL to Life Through Literature

    Funded Mar 16, 2021

WOW! Thank you so very much for supporting my class! My students are going to be so excited to see a big box of wonderful books to read. We’re going to have to have a special Read-In Day to celebrate.

Thank you for showing my students that so many people care about their education and want them to succeed. Your generosity is invaluable!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Roehl

I want to help further build my students' communication skills through language arts in ways in which they will be able to express their social-emotional learning from the classroom to the "real world." Quality children's books are a great way to reinforce SEL to help students better understand their thoughts and emotions in order to become more self-aware and to develop more empathy for others. Students with strong social skills find it easier to establish meaningful and lasting friendships and relationships thus creating a positive impact on their well-being. Some of the ways in which we will incorporate SEL literature is through hands-on projects and culminating cross-curricular studies. We will create some art that engages and strengthens social-emotional muscles to make connections between feelings and creativity, promoting great conversations simply by reading a great SEL book, play interactive games another great way to begin conversations about their feelings, and work on some writing projects based the messages from our SEL reading.
