Growing up I always hated sitting at a desk of any kind to do my work. I felt confined and that made it hard for me to concentrate. This is why flexible seating is so important in a classroom setting. Students do not all learn the same way. Some students feel the need to move around or stand. While others might work best at a table or a desk. Or like me in a soft and comfy bed to get their work done. Too bad we can't put beds in our classrooms. Students need to learn how they learn best. However, if we never give them the options they will never discover for themselves where and in what atmosphere works best for them in their learning career. In high school this is even more important because these are the years that are prepping them for their time outside of school or college. These are places where we can not stand over them telling them to do the work. So they need to know the way that they learn best so that they are more motivated to get in and get the work done.
