We are adding reading corners and safe spaces to our kindergarten classrooms this year at CBA, and our goal is to make both spaces comfortable and inviting for all of our students! Both of these areas of our classrooms play vital roles in the success of students both academically and in their social-emotional development. Our reading corners will have a variety of books for students to choose from for their independent reading time. We want students to be able to sit comfortably and enjoy their reading time, and learn to cultivate a love of sitting with a good book! Our safe spaces are areas in our classrooms where students can go if they feel overwhelmed, upset, or need to take a break. We want every student to feel safe, comfortable, and happy while they are at school, and safe spaces are excellent tools that will help our scholars practice self control, calming techniques, and learn how to manage they emotions in a constructive and healthy way. We want our safe spaces to be comfy and inviting so that our students know they have a place to go if they need it!
