  • Technology Helps Bronx Students Supplement and Enrich Learning

    As we live in a technological age, it is vital to show students how they can incorporate technology to support their learning. Through the resources you helped fund in this project, you helped bring technology to my classroom. In turn, you supported the students learning and provided them the opportunity to deepen their understanding, acquire skills, and grow as students and people.

    The most exciting aspect of this project was having the technology at our finger tips throughout the school day. Having access to technology helped my students to grow as learners. Whether they were practicing fact fluency in math, researching about a topic for their informational report in writing, identifying unique aspects of a culture in social studies, or just looking for the answer about a curiosity they had, your donation made it that much more possible for them.     The students enjoyed working together to acquire and hone skills in a fun hands on way. Moreover, they gained experience working in small and large groups. Through their work in math centers the students learned about important mathematical concepts. Additionally, the learned the importance of navigating different situations that come along with collaborative learning. They became stronger students and people because of your generosity. Many of them describe their time in centers as their favorite part of each school day. Thank you for your generosity.”

I am looking to gain resources utilize in my 5th grade classroom in the Bronx, New York. Students in my class have excelled this far in their school work and have been placed in an "accelerated" class setting. I am looking to attain these materials to meet the needs of the fast paced academics within my classroom. These resources will help me to meet each students varied needs, differentiate their learning, and challenge their thinking and understanding of material. I will use many of the materials to accelerate the students learning in the math classroom. The resources will also be used for research in writing, science, and social studies.

About my class
