Our school’s goal is to stabilize and modify the behaviors of the students, so the students may return to their home school districts. In order to reach that goal, I would like alternative seating because many students have shown an increase in poor behaviors due to sensory issues from sitting at a desk for long periods of time.
Alternative seating will not only allow the students to experience better comfort, but it will also provide freedom of choice, movement, sensory input, and self-regulation. Research-based practices have shown that the use of alternative seating increases academic achievement and lowers off-task behaviors.
