At our school, we believe that every child can love reading if they can just find the right book. Every English Language Arts class begins with 10-15 minutes of sustained silent reading. Teachers conference with their students to monitor their progress and work with students to help them build robust reading lives! The first step to supporting budding readers is to make sure they have access to diverse texts representing a variety of life experiences told in a myriad of genres and reading levels. Our goal with this project is to send an influx of high-interest, relevant, and culturally responsive texts into each ELA teacher's classroom library! These titles were handpicked by teachers with their particular students in mind. These titles represent a mix of middle-grade and high-school level poetry, prose, nonfiction, and graphic novels, with the purpose of finding texts relevant to all students.
