Students who attend LAS have been assigned due to severe disruptive behavior, serious school violation, hospitalization and/or potential or pending criminal charges. Additionally, a number of our student suffer from emotional and/or mental disorders all of which pose a serious barrier to academic success. Students assigned to my Emotional Literacy Intervention in grades six thru eight are taught the basics of emotional intelligence and engage is group discussion, specific lessons and interactive activities that support their social-emotional learning. The expected outcome is that these students will experience a decrease in disruptive behaviors and an increase in academic achievement.
