This projector will help me meet the needs of a generation of students who are becoming more visually based learners. Being able to clearly project notes, presentations, and other visual aides will help me improve students engagement and comprehension. This projector will allow me to more effectively pair visuals with my lesson plans, share notes and examples with my students, and allow my students to more effectively share the presentations that they work so hard on. This past year I moved into a large classroom that seats 35 students, but it has a 42" TV rather than a projector. This makes using visual aids and providing detailed notes and examples ineffective. Any time I use the TV, I lose they attention of every student who cannot see the screen clearly. As a result, all of my notes and examples have to be written and rewritten on the whiteboards each class period as I alternated between sophomores and juniors. This means that a good portion of my time (10-20 minutes throughout a class period) is spent writing on the board instead of working with the students directly. Student presentations would also greatly benefit from a projector because they will become visible to the entire class as the student is presenting. throughout the year, students mentioned to me how frustrating it was that their presentations, from bullet points to charts and pictures, were impossible to see beyond they first row of desks. A frustration that is understandable when you see how much effort these students put into their work. Not only will a projector will allow the students to proudly display the fruits of their labor to their peers, but it will also improve the audiences engagement with the presentation.
