I know as a teacher I will fill many roles for my students, I will become a counselor, a parent, a nurse and so much more. I want to motivate my students to do all that they can despite of the environment they are coming from. It is going to be a challenge to create this space without supplies, because a large percentage of my students will not have the supplies they need or the home life to support them. I will do absolutely everything I can, but I am straight out of my undergrad and currently enrolled in a masters program, so I won't be able to do all that I wish I could. My goal is to use colorful paper when giving students feedback so that each color will be associated with a different message, and the feedback will not be overlooked because of the neon strip it is printed on. Markers will become a major tool in my class because I think it's important to incorporate the arts into everyday learning, so students can create work that is unique to them. I will ask that each student will have a composition notebook and I will use paperclips to have them keep track of what page they are on. The other school supplies are basic for the ELA classroom as pencils, sharpeners, paper cutters, whole punchers, erasers, and highlighters will help to create a well organized and resourceful classroom. My students will come first and I will do all that I can to give them what they need to be successful. Please become a part of my project if you believe in the student-teacher team ready to get started.
