Our student population has changed greatly over the last few years. The pandemic has made a bigger divide in our school. Our school is considered a one to one meaning a Chromebook has been checked out to all students, but things happen. Students forget theirs, they break, or they get lost. When this happens, students come to school without the technology needed. Our school does not have the funds nor extra technology to give classrooms extra technology and as a result, students are given alternative assignments. I would like to have technology in our class so a student can check out for the hour and return, ensuring an equal opportunity experience. The students will use the technology to complete Khan Academy Mathematics assignments. The assignments are at the students' ability level based upon a quarterly assessment. The assignments fill in the lost learning from the distance learning while scaffolding new grade level standards. Student progress is recorded every four to seven problems to ensure success or remediation. Students are presented with various learning modes such as videos, reading and trials of standards. Students are offered several attempts to try again to either increase their score or have the option to move forward to the next standard. The automated and immediate feed back is extremely helpful for students to reflect on their progress.
