Learning in our Garden is Fun!
Funded Nov 10, 2021Thank you for helping me create a beautiful and safer place for my students to learn about their world. Some scholars worked on spreading mulch even after school. Others made special observations on wild life found in the garden. My students feel the love and support from the DonorsChoose Organization. I let them know that all I have to do is to restate how wonderful of scholars they are and that there are many generous kind hearted people that care for their education.
My students were so enthusiastic to place mulch on the paths of the garden that flooded so that we can all as a school walk through the garden safely. This project has inspired my students to keep the garden healthy and clean. We continue to enjoy our garden and learning outdoors. Our scholars look forward on visiting the garden regularly throughout the school year.”

Funded Mar 2, 2021Thank you so very much for all your donations and generosity. We are a little group with huge dreams for our future. This past year was challenging and technology was imperative. Working with the bristle robots gave my students an incredible opportunity to experience technology at home.
One of the products that my students seemed most excited about was having the motors move. My student's faces lit up the moment the motor started vibrating.
My students showed and tried to display how fast their bristle robots moved by using their computer cameras. yet, they wished they were together to have races. They wanted to see whose bristle robot could move faster and in the desire direction. Many scholars redesigned their bristle robots by placing the battery on different locations on the tooth brushes to see which form worked best. This technology project gave my students the opportunity to problem solve.”

Amazing Start
Funded May 21, 2020My students and I are utilizing the notebooks to record our learnings in science. Some of the ways we use our notebooks are to draw models of our hands-on activities and record our wonderings. I encourage our scholars to draw models, label the models and show action by drawing arrows. This year I want to incorporate some measurement and numbers into their models. We just started setting up our notebooks this year and I could not be any happier.
This year has been unique but inspiring. We came together as a school and made all our materials available for a group of staff members to put together a start of the year packages for each of our grades. Parents were invited to come to pick up a packet for each of our students. Once the students had their packet, I did not even ask my students, they took their science notebook and showed it to camera! I asked for them to showed it to the camera because I needed to take a picture for a thank you letter. I told them that Ms. Leyvas was very lucky because she got a donation and all I had to do was say that this donation was for my wonderful students.
Your donation helps my students stay on task and organized. My students are worth the world and your donation has given them a "Great Start" this school year! In future lessons, my students will learn about organisms and their traits and how these unique traits aide in their survival in a giving environment.”

Funded Dec 4, 2019We are so very grateful for your generosity. I let my students know that we were granted a gift of different materials that would help us learn about electricity. I got a gasp from the whole class and I could see how happy they were because they felt totally supported. My students are humbled and very motivated. We created parallel circuits and constructed a flashlight using an index card, copper tape and batteries. They were so very happy to be able to take their creations home. You have to know that in many occasions they are not able to take their creations home because I have to recycle materials so that I can use them in other projects.
I have not used all the materials yet but I do plan to have my students construct a windmill using a solar panel. I also want them to create a drawing robot using a cup, markers, and a motor. This will most likely get done on the last week of school. Your gifts will help me keep my scholars engage all year long!”
