This flexible seating will give my students the opportunity to make choices in a rigorous environment. Studies have proven that if children are able to choose the learning environment that works best for them, they will succeed. The rug for the children that need to sit on the floor, the bands on the desks for the children that need the structure of a desk or chair, but still need to move. I have many children that have a difficult time sitting at a desk; so the stools, cushions, couch, lap desks, and higher chairs will give these children an opportunity to be able to focus on their work since they will feel comfortable. With flexible seating, the children work on the computer often, needing headphones. Giving my children flexible seating options allows them the opportunity to choose their best way to learn in our classroom. Each year, I research and learn new and inventive ways to keep up with the rigorous society they will embark on. By donating to this special project, you are giving this generation of children the forum to discover their best way to learn and be successful. Each year, a new group of learners enter my room, and even though we try to keep all supplies and furniture intact, accidents happen and items get ruined. I have recycled, and now it's time to get rid of some of the items and start fresh!
