This classroom project was brought to life by Emerson Collective and one other donor.

Every day, I play relevant music every day for students to enjoy. The music typically builds on the topic or material for the day. It also helps them experience different cultures and build off their background knowledge. Many students say this is one of their favorite things about coming to my class! I teach 12th Grade English Literature, where we engage in analyzing texts critically using various perspectives. My goal is to enable students to understand world events through different viewpoints, so they may create informed opinions of their own. I also teach a new elective "Music as Literature." This course uses music as a way to teach lit analysis, poetic form, and writing. I also hope to encourage future songwriters to explore their talents and passion for music. Overall, music, student-centered learning, relationship building, gamification, SEL, and critical thinking are at the core of my teaching pedagogy.
