Swimming is an excellent way to burn calories. The amount burned depends on a person's weight and how vigorously they swim. Swimming is also an exercise that releases endorphins, which improve the mood. Swimming may also boost confidence and social skills, which can impact a person's self-esteem. Swimming is considered an Aerobic exercise with muscular toning and strengthening (swimming works the entire body, including the cardiovascular system, without putting increased stress on the body’s skeletal system, joints and muscles.) Another key factor for swimming is that it is appropriate for all ages! Kids love spending time in the pool, but swimming isn’t just for children. Adults (young and old) who regularly swim are healthier than those who live a sedentary life. This is what we are trying to build within our students at Arsenal Tech High School.
