At the end of each school year, I ask my students what are some of the things they will remember about their year. I will ask them to give me likes and dislikes and to tell me which subject they liked the most and the least. I use this information to guide my teaching. This allows me to use the students' feedback to adjust my lessons. This year, my students expressed that they were not happy with the science curriculum. They expressed to me that they would like more "interesting" lessons. I know just what they meant. The items I requested will allow my students to see science in a way that interests them. The hands-on activities will give the students who need a visual or tactile experience the extra help they need. I'm looking forward to next year's exit survey already and I am sure that science will not be the "boring" subject. My class also uses a reading program called Lexia 5. I cannot say enough good things about it. My students love it and look forward to using it each day. One of the obstacles we face in this is headphones. Most students do not have their own headphones. I purchase headphones at The Dollar Store but they break so easily. These headphones would be a blessing to my kids.
