Teaching global competencies to promote perspective and empathy is increasingly a valued topic in education circles. In order to build empathy, students need to understand how to see the world from other's points of view. I will be able to add to my growing tool kit of teaching global competencies with Premium International Snacks Variety Packages.
When students can make connections to the outside world, it builds empathy, perspective, and encourages that intrinsic curiosity that is so often lost as students get older. Because my students love snacks, and because I am able to provide many valuable connections to other cultures, the use of our Premium International Snack Variety Packages will spark their interest in learning about the country of Turkey. In addition, my students will be able to research the ingredients of the snacks contents to determine where these food items are grown. Mapping locations of places we learn about builds their geographic understandings. There are enough snacks in this order for my students to present a Premium International Snacks Variety package to the three other fourth grade classes at my school after they prepare a presentation about the contents.
I believe this hands-on and flavorful approach to learning about the outside world will be a memorable set of experiences for my students and our whole grade level.
