I am wanting to incorporate more flexible seating options in my classroom. Behaviors have improved tremendously for my students when I incorporated just a few kneeling pads and standing desk in my classroom. With the few flexible seating options that I have implemented in my classroom my students still want more. To show how important this is for my students, at the end of the year they begged for me to turn my classroom into complete flexible seating for the next school year. They have made valid points that not all jobs are behind a desk and they are completely right! Students enjoy having a choice and control over their own learning environment. This also allows them to realize where and how they work best. Many of my students struggle with sitting still and getting comfortable while behind a regular classroom desk. Once a student gets uncomfortable, cant focus and/or cant sit still they become a behavior issue or struggle academically due to the distraction and lack of focus.
