  • Classroom Supplies

    Funded Aug 9, 2022

Thank you for your support and donations. My students were able to use the items and were very grateful to have them. This is a bonus for me in my classroom and allowed me to focus on teaching instead of worrying about supplies.

Especially during cold/flu time when tissues were in great demand and my students sure did use them. This is something that is always a need and I was blessed to have.

Scissors are something many do not think as a necessity but when you have multiple students trying to use one pair, it becomes a nightmare.

I cannot thank you enough for your generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hine

  • Printer Need

    Funded Sep 16, 2020

Thank you so much for your generosity towards the printer for my classroom. This was much needed and very helpful for the students and me. During the time I was at home, I was able to print out the materials and scan this right to the students so they have my notes immediately and without having to wait until I was back in school.

When we were in school, the students found this very helpful as did I in class. Instead of having to go to the library to print work out or wait for me to retrieve printed materials from the teacher's lounge between classes, I can print during the class period and have this right away to hand to the student.

What I and they love the most is the color ink function. Many times, the work has grey boxes where I would comment on their assignments, which also tends to blur the comment. Now, I can print in color and they see this is highlighted and draws their attention right to the needed comment or study area. We so appreciate your generosity and thank you very much!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hine

  • Seating Options

    Funded Aug 21, 2019

Thank you so much for the additions to the classroom. My students are using these and like them. This gives them a chance to change from traditional seating and allows them more freedom at their seats.

At first, my students were surprised and were anxious to be the first ones to try the additions. Now they love them and ask to sit on them all the time.

The next step for my classroom is to continue building alternative seating. I hope to have my classroom full of changing seats.

I thank you from the bottom of my heart!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hine

  • Novels for Class

    Funded Aug 21, 2019

Thank you for your books!! This brings a big change to the classroom, where students can read a modern story, instead of continued reading of the normal books we offer. The students could take a new imagined journey and connect with all the figurative language in the books. The students can use rhetoric, knowledge of figurative language, and knowledge of literary elements when reading.

In my classroom, students have time they can read a book after our lesson. This would involve silent time, where they can focus on the story, and not distractions that impede their learning.

I have a few students who are more sci-fi, computer game type of students who love this novel, and finished it quite quickly. They told others, and it keeps going around and around.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hine

Having a class set of the novel Ready Player One will increase students abilities to read independently and not wait until a book is available, as the department shares novels between several classes. Students can read at home, after work on an assignment, and complete activities without worrying they will need to return the book to the library, or it not be available for the student to use or readily review. The class set of Ready Player One provides an alternative reader to my students and allows them to focus upon themes they are readily familiar with. Many times sophomores do not hold interest in the novels because the topics are nothing they are familiar with.
