Summer Enrichment Materials
Funded May 9, 2023Thank you again for donating to our "Summer Enrichment Activities" project, it's very much appreciated! You made our wildest dreams come true during summer vacation with our summer enrichment activities. He/she gained in summer learning and growth in social skills, instead of summer slippage via independent reading level(s). Here are two parent/guardian testimonials:
"Student A greatly enjoyed and benefited from the summer enrichment gifts. He enjoyed putting together the Lego car right away. He used the towel for his summer swimming class. We read "How to Be Cool in The Third Grade" as the first summer reading. Student A had more crayons for his many art projects, but we are still working on completing the Summer Bridge activities book."
"Student B was eager to use her new materials. We read the new book the first week and the Legos were the first summer activity she completed. The summer materials like the towel, sun glasses and sunscreen made the summer a little more fun and exciting because they came from her teacher. Thank you for your help making the summer fun while supporting her academically!"
Your continued support has touched my heart, and I am incredibly grateful for your thoughtfulness. Your kindness has made a significant impact on my life and scholars, and i will always remember your generosity. I can't thank you enough for your thoughtfulness and generosity. Your donation(s) has brightened my scholars summer vacation(s) and made US feel so SPECIAL!”

Funded May 4, 2022Our class loved their end of the year summer enrichment goodies and were eager to dive in...Scholars couldn't wait to start building with their Legos via Creator or Friends edition(s). Many of them made the connection to the instructions/directions being like a How-To Informational Text/Guide with steps to follow! Grade 3 Teachers have been gleaming with surprise on how their Grammar and Handwriting has improved in comparison to prior years. Additionally, loved that they already knew the beginnings of cursive writing which is important via signing their first and last name(s), etc. Furthermore, a limited amount of summer slide occurred due to the Horrible Harry Moves up to Third Grade Text and it grew their love for the Horrible Harry Series Books. Book clubs are all the rave towards the end of Grade 2 and in Grades 3-5 in building their love for reading series books.
We hope that you continue to support our future projects and the future of America with your generous donations. Remember, no donation is too small or too BIG! We truly appreciate you as a donor and continuing to water our scholars with the tools necessary for them to sprout and bloom!”

Funded Oct 28, 2020I hope you and your family are healthy and safe during these uncertain and unprecedented times. Thank you so much for your generous donation(s), which helped to fully fund our classroom project of 4 iPads and headphones. The following has helped my scholars in many ways, such as implementing technology into the core curriculum to enhance their engagement and academic success during these unprecedented times where student moral is at an all-time low. With the fulfillment of this project scholars are able to collaborate with peers using digital platforms independently, explore creativity through technological features, engage in higher-order thinking processes, and participate in inquiry-based learning, synthesize information from multiple sources and establish a sense of online social presence.
My scholars were mostly excited about not having to share their devices (iPads) with another peer during these unprecedented times, recording videos using SeeSaw, Flipgrid, and/or iMovie, typing their stories via Writers Workshop (Narrative, Informational, Poetry, Opinion, Realistic Fiction, etc.), logging onto Savvas Realize to complete their Quick Check problem sets for Math, playing math games, coding, listening to audiobooks/stories on Epic, YouTube, etc. The possibilities are endless now for them and I via learning with access to technology devices, especially when a school closure occurs due to positive COVID-19 cases within the school building (which is unfortunate).
The addition of these iPads have helped scholars with a variety of learning styles to better grasp concepts and, in turn, increased scholar performance. "I believe that iPads help students learn and in my classroom, scholars who are reluctant readers because they're struggling and/or English as a New Language Learner (ENLs) will pick up his/her iPad and sit and read with the closed captions on and/or listen to audiobooks." I have also noticed that the iPads have invoked a sense of curiosity in scholars, which I hadn't seen pre-covid! Furthermore, it has brought upon a sense of being "tech savy" due to liking to use technology and give scholars the confidence of using the World Wide Web to look up something that he/she doesn't know. For example, during Writers Workshop he/she uses the iPad(s) to look up the correct spelling of a tricky word(s) and during Readers Workshop he/she uses the iPad to look up the meaning/definition of tricky words to further their understanding. However, at times these devices can act as a major distraction to scholars and his/her nearby peers as well. iPads are very efficient in providing instant communication for scholars and teachers via Google Classroom, Google Meet, Zoom, ClassDojo, Remind, etc. Personally, it has been a great tool via grading, providing feedback (glows and grows), assigning assignments, communicating with parents/guardians, etc. Moreover, these devices have enhanced scholar's communication skills and he/she is more enthusiastic and engaged to learn!
In conclusion, on the behalf of Class 2-222 I would like to THANK YOU again for your generous donation(s) in fulfilling our Donors Choose project because without you and our community we would not be SUCCESSFUL scholars and educators! Always, remember that "the future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams" and you believed in our dreams and our project, thank you! Let's continue to spread kindness and foster the love of learning and teaching always!”

Ms. Rodrigues

So Much to Hang...Where Is the Cork Board?
Funded Jun 25, 2019Thank you for your generous donation in making our dreams come true with the cork-boards. My scholars and I are utmost grateful and pleased with our fun and interactive morning meeting. They were AMAZED on how we are able to now display our monthly math calendar, hundreds, tens, and ones chart, hundreds chart, today in money, flow of the day, daily objectives, book shopping schedule, writing and reading partnerships, etc. on our cork-board displays!
Every morning we start with pivoting to our "math" calendar and sing the days of the week song, identify the month, year, and season, go through yesterday, today, and tomorrow, predict the shape, color, and number of our pattern, count the days in school using base-ten blocks and money for each day. Can you believe we've been in school for 19 days already and we are in the month of October? Wow, time flies when you're having FUN!
We hope you love our sneak peek of our classroom decor and our morning meeting area were your donation executed our vision! Our next step is to continue growing as future educators and "third graders" to become college and career ready! Thank you again for being a vital part of our continued education!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Rodrigues
