Although research is limited, it is becoming apparent that flexible seating is beneficial for students of all ages. Flexible seating in the classroom not only helps students learn better but teaches students how to make positive choices for themselves. Students become more engaged in their learning when they are given the option of where to sit. By sitting where they feel comfortable, students are more willing to learn and work. Students also learn how to make positive choices based on flexible seating rules. If a child needs to be separated from their friends due to not following the rules, they learn to sit away from their friends to learn effectively. Incorporating a classroom microphone in our classroom teaches young children that their voices are always heard. As children grow in to teenagers and adults, public speaking is one of the most common fears. By using a classroom microphone, students will feel comfortable and confident to speak in front of their peers.
