In the most recent studies it has been shown that flexible seating is beneficial to the learning environment. The rectangle activity tables will allow for my students to continue to sit in a group setting but will allow the space needed for an array of flexible seating options. The standing desk will allow my students with trouble sitting for extended periods of time the opportunity to keep their minds focused on learning by being able to stand and move around at a standing desk. It has been shown that boys learn better standing up while girls learn better by sitting. The traditional student desk will allow for my students that work better in their own space and the student that is more comfortable with the traditional desk the option to continue to have what they are more accustomed to. The portable lap desk is another style of desk that I feel would benefit the students with ADHD in my classroom by allowing my students to move and fidget quietly while still being able to focus on our lessons. While the desks and table are important it will only benefit the students if they have the flexible seats as well. The Carry Me Floor cushions will allow a soft seat for my students that do not need to move all of the time. The Stay-N-Play Balance Ball would be very beneficial to my students that find the traditional chairs uncomfortable but they still would like to sit up off of the ground. The Wobble Chair, the Wobble cushion, portable reclining seat and bean bag chairs are wonderful for my students that have ADHD, these chairs will allow these students the freedom to move around without disturbing others around them and in turn will allow all students to focus on learning.
