  • In-Hand vs Online

    Funded Aug 31, 2020

I am in awe of the fast response and generosity this project received. Your kindness will be wide spread and put to great use. I know the children and families I teach with this year will be appreciative of these supplies. These supplies will also allow me the flexibility to make lessons come alive and have a hands on component like 5/6 year olds should experience.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Fennell

  • Sit Here, Sit There, Sit socially Distanced Anywhere

    Funded Aug 17, 2020

I am truly humbled by your generosity. This school year is starting as a rollercoaster. These portable lap desks will allow my class flexibility with where we choose to learn. I hope we will be able to get outside often! I will be able to easily wipe down the desks and keep them free of germs. I appreciate your help with this project and I know it will make a positive impact on my students this year.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Fennell

  • Hands on for Young Hands

    Funded Aug 3, 2019

The supplies you provided for my students have allowed them to fully access the curriculum. Each day they have 'Center Time'. This time is used for students to explore and learn in the Art Studio, Block Center, Drama Center, S.T.E.M. Center, Math Center, Library, Writing Center, Wordwork Center, and Discovery Center. The centers are themed around the current unit of study and read aloud for the week. Students are able to demonstrate competency of concepts through different mediums. The supplies provided to my classroom were used to make these centers come alive.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Fennell

Students participate in engaging hands on learning centers for over an hour each day. These centers cover subjects such as Early Literacy Skills, STEM, Mathematics, Art Studio, Discovery and Exploration with sand and water. Each center is a play based area for students to deepen their understanding of the curriculum and be supported by teachers as they learn and ask questions to gain new understanding. Students also learn to work in groups and share materials. We work on community and helping on another. Students present their work to classmates each day during a thinking and feedback process. This allows students to compliment each other, gain ideas for their own work, and give suggestions to peers. All of this cannot be accomplished without the much needed supplies to stock each center.
