My role this upcoming school year is to ensure the Social-Emotional and Sensory needs of 511 students are being met. My sensory-informed classroom will support the various needs of various students. Not all students learn the same, nor do they have the same sensory needs, so it is really important that I am able to provide many different sensory experiences that focus on the different types of sensory input. My goal of having many sensory options available is to help support participation, engagement, and interactions that promote skill development and learning. My hope is that all students will have access and interactions within my classroom that work to develop social skills with peers, behavior and emotional regulation, improve focus/attention, develop organization skills and manage classroom behavior. Sensory tools can regulate a child's arousal level in order to get at these higher-level skills needed for classroom success!
