  • Good Vibes for Class Z04!!!

    Funded Dec 9, 2024

Thank you so much for being a part of this great group of people coming together to support and encourage the incredible growth taking place in my classroom. Every day we are pushing ourselves to learn more and become stronger in learning and these materials being brought into our classroom are so essential in helping me try to reach all of my students. These tools will especially help my students who have significant sensory needs . Seeing it in a different way can bring about that 'Aha!' moment. Suddenly, it all just clicks and a student finally understands what was unclear so many times before. But even more magical than that is that you are showing my students that so many people care about their education and want them to succeed and that alone makes them want to try harder and learn more. Thank you for making all of this possible!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Granati

  • An iPad Can Help!

    Funded Jul 16, 2020

The iPad has helped my students and I to open up more opportunities to learn with less chance of error. I am able to make sure the lessons and materials are accessible prior to students doing their work. There is less frustration for students and parents and more time for learning.

I am also able to give the students opportunities using a wide variety of platforms to enhance their learning. There is a whole world of technology and the iPad allows me to share that world with my students. An example would be Flipgrid. My students who are non-verbal can use Flipgrid to allow them to share pictures made to express oneself. Buncee is another app that allows students to use pictures, animations, videos, and web links to express themselves.

By being able to share this world with my students, I have also given them the opportunity to be more independent. I am able to research and test apps and platforms that meet the needs of my students and give them the opportunity to work at their level. Thank you for giving my students and I all these wonderful opportunities.”

  • Coming Out of Our Shells

    Funded Jun 25, 2019

Thank you so much for our supplies for our turtle's habitat. The students were really excited to see all the new and advanced materials for their turtles and couldn't wait to learn how to use them. The students were so grateful to see all the amazing donations that would allow them to maintain their turtle's habitat. They are now able to do this more independently thanks to all the new gadgets that make it more accessible and easy to maintain the turtles habitat with less support of the adults. The overall goal of our school is to be as independent as possible and with these donations really allow the students to do so. They are also using these skills to gain job experience and responsibility that they can apply out in the community in the future. Thank you all for your generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Granati

My students are a diverse group who are all unique in their own way and enrich each other's lives, family, and community. Transition is the focus of our school and we feel it is important to teach ADL and job skills. All of our students strive to be inclusive in the outside community. This project allows our students to learn job skills using Stem on how to care for turtles and their habitat and why it is important to learn these skills. Each diverse student can help each other learn and grow in their classroom community. They can later take these skills learned and apply them out in the community and be inclusive in everyday life. I want my students to be able to see themselves as individuals who are capable of achieving all goals at their level.
