  • A Sensory Smart Start

    Funded Aug 14, 2024

Thank you for your support making my classroom environment more conducive to my students learning and improving their early childhood education experience.

The sensory supports you helped purchase have helped welcome them to my classroom and support their needs as they learn and grow.

The light in my classroom is now soft and inviting. We were able to set up an improved calming area right by the entrance to the classroom. Students can use this space to help transition into their day or as a space to retreat when they need a break.

The wobble stool, kinetic sand, and other materials that we integrated through out the classroom have been utilized by all the students to enhance their learning.

Thank you for helping me complete this project.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Caroline

  • Creating Preschool Storytellers With Felt Puppets

    Funded Feb 7, 2024

Thank you so much for supporting us in getting felt storytelling materials in to our students hands.

I demonstrated the use of the felt characters during story time and they were enraptured by the stories. They were so engaged and their smiles were ear to ear. Their focus and enjoyment was visible improved.

After each tale was shared at story time we added the puppets to our library center. In library center the students enjoyed retelling the stories and creating their own stories using the mini felt boards and by spreading pieces out on the carpet. It was wonderful to see the expansion in their language as they used the puppets. Thanks to the puppets, even students with emerging language skills were able to retell the stories!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Caroline

  • Let's All Play

    Funded Jun 26, 2019

Thank you for supporting my first Donor's Choose project. I was amazed at the quick response and delighted at how fast this project was funded. Our school therapists were also ecstatic to use these materials and help me implement them in the classroom.

This class used the materials to explore, express themselves, play together, and practice sharing.

The materials you helped purchase created a more inclusive classroom and empowered each child to play and communicate in every center of the room.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Caroline

I worked with our school's physical therapist, occupational therapist, speech therapist, and a visual interventionist to select these materials. We collaborated to make a list of toys that will promote participation and interaction between all students. These carefully selected materials will help with language, physical, and visual development. Light up instruments, balls, and a light table with help develop visual skills, musical skills, and fine and gross motor skills. Slick stix, a musical doodle board, and a slant board will allow all children to participate in art activities. Voice buttons will help verbal and nonverbal children communicate and understand each other.
