In my 2nd grade classroom, I plan to implement guiding reading into my daily instruction! Guided reading has significant beneficial effects on helping students develop reading skills. This is a type of instruction that focuses on small groups of differentiated learners. According to literacy experts, Fountas and Pinnell, "a reading level is a teacher's tool, not a child's label." Having a strong guiding reading center will allow me to support ALL students with their reading skills and enjoyment. These materials will allow students to practice their reading skills in a variety of ways with tools that work best for them.
