Working in a small group can present a host of challenges. One of these challenges is seating at a round table. When I have groups of 4 or more seated at a round table I am having to turn them or shift myself into a better position in order to see their faces/mouths more clearly. However, a kidney bean shaped table is a great way to eliminate this challenge. It is a way to be front and center and available to all students. With a kidney bean shaped table, I can see all of my students and am fairly close to them to provide good speech modeling techniques. I do not have to squeeze in between students to get closer to them.
