  • Calming Area

    Funded Apr 3, 2023

I am so grateful for the donations that you gave to my classroom. The students will be surprised and so excited with the new materials that have been donated. I will be happy to see the calming area come to life and help students to activate their social emotional skills in this area with the various materials that will be added to this area. I am excited to see this area come to life.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Butts

  • Depositing into the Love of Books

    Funded Feb 17, 2020

Thank you so much for the kind donation to my classroom. The class will have access to more books as they love to read. This will be exciting for them to have new books and for them to learn how to take care of the books simply because you were so generous. Thanks again. I am so excited.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Butts

  • Preschool Cozy Area

    Funded Sep 30, 2019

My students and I are using the carpet to get cozy on. We get to see happy and engaging pictures that motivate the children when they are having a hard day. The children are also able to connect with each other as they sit on the carpet holding a stuffed animal. The parents sometimes use this area to cuddle their children when they are having a hard transition in the morning. This carpet is also used for children to talk about their feelings with their peers and the staff members. My students often get their family photo, sit down in this area and discuss their feelings. While discussing their feelings, they sometimes use the carpet and the magnet to discuss and determine their feelings at the current time. The items have had a positive impact on my classroom

My students were so happy when they saw the first part of the order arrive. They were pointing at the items and they were anxious to touch the items that were coming to our room. As each item was added to the classroom, they smiled and gathered around to see the new addition. They were so excited that they did not want to share with each other.

Currently, we have added pictures of them to the area, as they do activities with the buddies, so that they can reflect on what they did. Recently, each buddy made a bracelet for their weekly assigned buddy. Some children gathered their parents to look at the pictures of themselves making bracelets for their weekly buddy.

We love the new additions to our classroom environment.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Butts

The Preschool Cozy Area encourages the children to be able to have quiet time to themselves in the classroom, as well as hug a soft plush toy and hold their family photo. This area helps the children to be able to be okay with the various feelings that they maybe encountering on a given day or time. Currently, we are using Spongebob, a alien plush and two pillows for them to sit on. The children love the area as of now, but with donations, the area could be enhanced. Students would be able to enhance their social emotional development as well as their reciprocal communication with both peers and adults. This enhancement of the cozy area would begin to help the children to develop life learning skills that can be transferred into the various areas of their life. The new materials would encourage the children to use their expressive communication to relate to their peers as well as develop self control of their feelings and their behavior.
