  • Sounds Exciting

    Funded Jan 19, 2020

Once again thank for your donations. The kids are loving the new headphones. We are now able to use the Chrome Books more often in the classroom. Technology plays a big part in today's society. It is our job as educators to help students learn how to use it.

Since obtaining the headphones, students can use online sites, such as Kahn Academy. This is a site that uses games and videos to help students practice skills. We also use Mystery Science in the classroom. The Mystery Science lessons include videos with explanations of topics. Now students can work independently without disturbing others, or get a quick refresh on a lesson or a step. Centers have become a big part of classroom learning. Having a technology center allows a few students to work on the Chrome Books. With the headphones, students can now work without disrupting the other centers.

The students were so excited when the box showed up! They couldn't wait to start using the new headphones.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Guimond

  • A Shelf Is a House For a Book

    Funded Jun 17, 2019

Thank you so much for helping me get three new bookshelves for my classroom. The new shelves are a home to books in my classroom library, as well as the students' book bins. My students were so excited when they saw my classroom library. The organized and colorful library really adds something special to my room. We have a classroom full of readers and they are eager to see what 4th grade holds for them. Right now we are discovering who we are as readings and practicing reading strategies to help us become the best readers we can me. Thanks again for all your help.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Guimond

I am moving into a new classroom that doesn't have a built in bookshelf. With no bookshelves in the room, students will have a hard time browsing for books. The chaos could cause extra disruptions and distractions during reading independent reading time. I would also loose counter/shelf space which could be an alternative working area for my students. In my classroom, there is a large focus on students getting the chance to choose their own book during reader's workshop. With the new bookshelves, students will have an easier time choosing the books they are most interested in. The bookshelves will allow me to better organize my classroom library.
