  • The Glass Castle, a Story Students Can Relate To

    Funded Jan 22, 2024

Thank you so very much for your kindness. These novels will be put to good use. My students will appreciate the kindness you have extended to them. The story of Jeannette Walls will truly inspire my students who have similar issues right in the foothills of West Virginia. Thank you so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Milam

  • LHS Students Need a Library!

    Funded Dec 13, 2022

I cannot express my gratitude for funding this project. I appreciate you donating to my high school students that often get overlooked. I cannot wait to send pictures of our new and modern library for our students! I am so excited to promote literacy and education in the hills of West Virginia.”

  • New Reads!

    Funded Jun 24, 2021

I cannot thank you enough for providing my students with updated materials to read. These novels will have a huge impact on my classroom and I cannot wait to start school in the fall with them! Thank you and your kindness so much! These novels will be put to good use!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Milam

  • Classroom Novels

    Funded Dec 21, 2019

I once again would like to thank you for the novels. I selected these particular novels because of the themes that are present. First novel we are reading is All American Boys and it is so relatable to the students. This novel focuses on an African American Boy who was assumed to be stealing because of his race. The boy was then the target of police brutality. The witness to the crime was a caucasian male, his peer. The twist is the white male who witnessed the crime is a close friend of the police's family. Thus far, the students LOVE the book. The writing and outlook is such an attention grabber for them. Thank you so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Milam

THANK YOU so much for supporting my students! Literacy is so important to us and to their education. They will be thrilled to receive the new novels! I cannot express my gratitude for your generous donation to my students. These new novels will most certainly be put to good use!”

  • Flexible Seating

    Funded Aug 21, 2019

My students are so grateful for the products that you provided. They ave the flexibility to pick their own seat. They chose their seats everyday based off of what they need, not just what they want. This particular seating arrangement works so well for their group projects, reading circles, and seminars. The seating arrangement and flexible seating keep students engaged and successful in my class. Other teachers in the school have even decided to go to this seating arrangement. My students were THRILLED!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Milam

This furniture will provide students with the ability for them to pick not where they WANT to sit, but where they NEED to. It will help them to recognize their learning styles and abilities. This type of seating will help bring a warming environment that moves away from desks in rows and more towards collaboration and discussion with their peers. I imagine reading novels like To Kill a Mocking Bird and my students discussing with one another Atticus' views on racism during the period and how it differs from others. Students being able to have flexible seating is proven to be beneficial. Students who are uncomfortable are less productive. I want to provide them with a safe and comfortable learning environment.
