During play, the sensory table is a favorite with all my students! It is the first center the students go to everyday to see what is inside of it! Currently, I do not have much to put in it besides water and beans. Being able to have a variety of items to put in the sensory table will allow the excitement to continue throughout the year. With these materials we can now add snow, water beads, wet noodles, and molding sand to create different sensory and learning experiences. We can also add new discovery opportunities with the addition of water and sand toys including letter and number activities. The learning that occurs from pouring, sifting, digging and smashing is endless! All these items are excellent for my students who need extra support in developing language, social and motor skills while learning through play!
