Headphones for a Head Start
Funded Oct 18, 2024My students and I were so excited to learn that this project had been funded and were grateful to receive the headphones. Having headphones for each student to use while engaging in learning activities on the computer has improved their experience and outcomes.
When working on individual reading intervention activities, the headphones allow students to hear words and sounds without background noise that interferes with their ability to really hear a specific word or sound. Students also use their headphones (funded by you wonderful donors) to engage with videos about specific topics at their own learning pace. For example, students in my Social Studies class might be completing assigned activities from a menu of choices that could include listening to audio clips or watching videos. The headphones, that you funded, allow students to navigate through their learning choices in the order they choose and at their own pace.
Additionally, for students who are English language learners, using audio to listen to texts aids them in developing proficiency in specific subject and also helps them to build on their acquisition of English in general.
Thank you very much for donating to my project. Your donation has already made a difference for my students and we all appreciate it.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Bernhardt
Headphones Keep Our Heads in the Game
Funded Oct 3, 2019Thank you so much for helping to fund this project.
My students benefited from your support directly as you helped to provide a valuable classroom tool to them. In every classroom but especially elementary and middle school, keeping students focused and on task is half the work. Headphones do help students to ignore distractions around them and focus on the learning task at hand.
Additionally, having audio supports students with disabilities and English language learners to access materials with more independence and this increases their engagement.
Your donations went a long way to improve the learning outcomes. Thank you.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Bernhardt
