Kindergarten students feel empowered by having some degree of choice and control over their environment. Flexible seating allows students to choose where they work and with whom. Flexible seating encourages students to find their best spot to stay calm, focused and productive. When students choose a workstation they need a place to work. However, not all students can be productive just sitting at a table. By having lap desks and comfy seats students have an area to work at that is comfortable and developmental appropriate. Students at this age need tables and seats that are at their size and support movement. As a teacher I see how students benefit from having a choice in their environment. I hope that having these additional choices will help us grow even more!
