In society today, the growth of technology within education has provided a new world for teachers to engage learners. Some schools are more developed than others with technology adoptions. As a first grade teacher, technology is not as abundantly available as it is for upper grade classrooms. With the importance of reading development, my goals as an educator is to continue and develop my capacity in teaching and continue to engage my students in learning. With this in mind, I have continued to build my literacy block with fun and engaging literacy centers while I am teaching small group reading instruction. By donating to my project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and engagement, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement in reading. These tablets will also provide opportunities for differentiation and intervention in math and other core subjects. With the lack of technology and funding, primary teachers are often unable to try new and innovative apps that promote student learning and provide teachers with instant feedback on student progress. Within my classroom I have 6 computer desktops that are beginning to retire and break down. As these computers break down, they are not being replaced because the technology is considered out of date. My goal is to replace my computers with 6 Samsung Galaxy Tablets for my students to experience engaging literacy apps. I am also wanting 6 kids shockproof cases for protection from student use. I appreciate any donations provided to help me in the fulfillment of this project dream of mine.
