  • Learning with Little Hands in Pre-K while Creating and Crafting

    Funded Nov 3, 2022

I am so very thankful for each and everyone of you. I am very appreciative to be able to provide various activities that involve creating and using their imaginations. We have been busy with the art supplies that you provided through your donations. Once the boxes came, my students were so excited to help open the boxes. We then talked about how fortunate to have people who want to help us. We talked about how we have to take care of the items that were given to us and use them correctly . Thank you once again for providing for our classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Russell

  • Young Minds Exploring Creatively Through Play

    Funded Feb 10, 2022

I want to say thank you so very much for helping to provide for our classroom. Hands on materials are not easy to come by that withstand our little hands. I thank you so very much for investing and caring to help provide for us. The kids love to play at the light table and all of the manipulatives and the slides they absolutely are fascinated with. They are doing so well gaining the knowledge of letters and numbers through the materials that were provided. I am truly thankful.

We are always working towards building muscles through fine motor activities as well as building and allowing my students to create and enjoy our classroom. Thank you so much again for helping me provide for students within my pre-k classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Russell

  • Energy Options for Tiny Learners

    Funded Jun 17, 2019

I am so very appreciative of the flexible seating options that you helped me provide for my students in my classroom. They are very much so enjoying them.

The flexible seating rubber balls has been a favorite throughout my room. The students really enjoy working at the table with this as an option for seating. I find that they are bouncing yet working. This significantly helps those students where traditional chairs are a henderance of completing work. When not focusing due to the ball, they just choose another choice of seat.

I really have appreciated the velcro spots for my carpet. These have allowed the students to know their boundaries and not be ontop of other students. Also this gave me the freedom to get rid of a 10 year old carpet that wasn't cleaned throughly. The stops make it more sanitary for my students in my classroom.

The students love using the sit tables as well. They love being able to sit criss-crossed without having to use a clipboard on their laps.

Thank you once again for your generosity and support for the students in my classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Russell

Flexible seating is a way to help students focus. Many students do not have knowledge of how to expell their excess energy in a constructive way that encourages a positive learning environment. Within the classroom, we do many activities that do not follow traditionally sitting at a desk and/or sitting in a chair. Working with hands on materials, cooperatively learning in literacy, math and science centers as well as working in groups during STEM are several of the learning opportunities that occur within my classroom. Changing the location and the accessiblity of the content can greatly impact a child's success over the content being learned. By providing several types of seating, this allows 4 and 5 year old students to engage while they are actively learning and moving. Wobble chairs and balance balls will help those students who struggle with sitting still in order to concentrate. The portable lap chairs and floor cushions will allow my littles to work within small groups while still having their own personal space. Sitting spots will allow my students to show ownership of their assigned area. I want to provide the best learning environment for my students to be inspired to be the future scientists, mathematicians, engineers and ultimately critical thinkers in this ever changing world.
