  • Getting Down to Work!

    Funded Nov 7, 2022

Thank you again for making classroom a better place for learning. The chairs arrived on a Friday, and I set them up after school. The following Monday as kids arrived at school, the chairs were the most popular seating option. Everything new is always popular, so I watched as the days went by. Our new floor chairs remain a popular choice in our mixed aged classroom.

They are big enough for the oldest learners and cozy enough for the littles. Unlike our previous floor chairs, they provide back support. The backs are even adjustable!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hodgson

  • Safe Play in K

    Funded Aug 29, 2020

I am sorry for writing this so late! These supplies and toys were purchased for our first full pandemic year. It was a difficult year for students and teaches, and these supplies contributed greatly to making my classroom welcoming and fun for a brand new group of kindergartners.

The toys enabled me to have options for students for individual play at their private table space (pandemic teaching). There was a such a great variety and all items were really high interest! I can honestly say these toys kept their interest all year.

Year two, I moved from kindergarten to Customized Learning classroom with k-2 students. All of these amazing items came with me. Everything has held up incredibly well, and continued to hold student's interest. As we moved from pandemic teaching (everything 6 feet a part) to a more hybrid model (masked and 3 feet apart, but allowed to play together) it was a joy to see the kids sharing and working together with the toys. I can honestly say, that this Donors Choose project was a life saver!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hodgson

Our district is returning to the classroom 4 days per week for face to face learning. Many of the things that make our classroom a kindergarten have been removed to create room for social distancing and to allow frequent cleaning and disinfecting. Play is an important part of the kindergarten day. Through play children learn to get along with others, think creatively, and problem solve. Play can also offer much needed comfort and a sense of normalcy. This year, play is more important than ever. Unfortunately, play will look very different this year. Classroom materials may only be used by one student at a time and need to be cleaned between uses. I have the bins and the shelves cleaned and ready to fill with a variety of items to keep our little ones engaged. Please help me add quality, open-ended toys to my classroom so that students can engage in safe meaningful play during the pandemic.
