Students at our school are tech kids who need an applied music course. Right now, they learn some music theory and music appreciation, but their one-week-on, one-week-off academic and shop schedule makes it impossible to have band, orchestra, or choir. Buying ukuleles for my different classes will enable them to have hands-on experiences with instruments rather than just sitting and listening to lectures every day. They need to challenge their different brain functions! Not only will they learn about the ukulele's history, description, and famous performers, but they will learn about different cultures where it came from as well as learning about MUSIC. In our classes, music includes all genres from classical to rock and even all nationalities and religions, including bossa nova from Brazil or even Jewish klezmer music. Please help us get instruments into the hands of these kids! We all know music is a fading class in public schools, so let’s keep it alive!
