Boom! Crash! Rattle! Let's Get Percussion Instruments to Students!
Funded Oct 8, 2024WOW. In 48 hours YOU helped begin building our brand new band program at BVT. We have only had club band before this and with our modest budget and this quick fundraiser, we are able to set up the musicians for quite a year ahead! So far, we have performed at our school's open house, and we plan on having three more performances starting in February of 2025. Now, all seven 9th/10th grade percussionists will be able to play in all of our pieces on different instruments!
Even though the current students all come from developed music programs from different districts, they get to see the hard work and dedication it takes to organize, fundraise, and get involved in order to have a successful program. And it's thanks to YOU, our community, for helping and showing how it truly "takes a village." Moving forward, this helps show our district that we can ask for more money and buy more instruments creating equity for ALL to be part of music, not only students who have access to instruments on their own, so THANK YOU!.
I can't wait for you all to see them perform live one day! Please follow our social media (Instagram: valleytechmusic) for updates, pictures, and videos. There will be much more to come and I can't wait! ENDLESS THANK YOUS for your support!”
With gratitude,
Dr. Cox
Hands-on Music for a Hands-on Tech School!
Funded Aug 12, 2021I can not thank you enough for you generosity and helping our music classroom gain 2 beautiful new keyboards! So far, students are learning basic music reading and piano skills. The environment lends itself to a "large group lesson" environment so students can gain different perspectives and experiences of their peers as well as from myself.
The students seem very supported by outside resources and people upon hearing of the donations from people around the US. They were surprised that people outside of their family and friends want to keep music in schools and support our music classroom.
Since we are only one month into the school year, the students are gaining momentum on reading music and playing piano. My goal for them is once per term (we are on trimester schedules) they perform one song at their current level of learning. Eventually, I'd love to see them explore different genres and styles outside of class, but the biggest goal is that they are in an environment of hands-on learning!
THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THANK YOU.”
With gratitude,
Dr. Cox
