Our Very Own Computer Science Library
Funded Mar 6, 2020My apologies for the delay in thank you -- it was not for lacking of thankfulness but due to feeling overwhelmed that I have been delayed in writing to you. Thank you for helping me start up my computer science library. As a coding magnet teacher, I have students that thirst for more knowledge and it is often hard to find resources for them that does not involve a lot of research and resources on my own. This compture science library is a part of the other resources that I have been able to collect over time and it is an awesome resource for our students as they learn to become independent learners.”

Funded Dec 21, 2020It has been such a blessing to have your support in creating a sanitation station. Prior to the materials, we had a less sanitary table with a a pump sanitizer bottle. The touch free sanitation tower has motivated our students to use it and use it they do! They enjoy coming into class and getting a pump of sanitizer. We also use the GermGuard every day and it is very much instilling confidence in our students that we are taking important and necessary steps to keep everyone healthy. Luckily, all of my students have remained COVID-free and our positivity rates at tge school are very low. Thank you for all you do.”

Funded Oct 4, 2020Sorry for the delay in writing to you— I have been extremely overwhelmed! Thank you for helping out school create a "welcoming classroom". The students get a kick out of coming to a "different" classroom that is fun and exciting. Our plants also help us fee like we have a hone a way from home and that is so important as we spend so much time in class.
I am thankful that with your support I can provide this experience to our students who have a variety of social-economic needs that is hard to address all the time. In small ways, we are create a long lasting positive impact on the students.”

A Calming Classroom
Funded Oct 23, 2020Thank you for your support. I apologize for the lateness of this letter as I have been overwhelmed but extra thankful for the the supplies to create a calming classroom. The students come in and enjoying walking into a peaceful class where they can have a sense of "a home away from home". We use the aromatherapy diffuser almost every day!
This time has been challenging and stressful for everyone alike and creating a relaxing and calming space has been a true blessing. We have enjoyed the building kits and plants as well.— for the "home" feeling we all get.”

Sanitary Schools for Healthy Students
Funded Apr 17, 2020Thank you for the cleaning supplies and other materials to have a safe learning environment. The hepa filter especially, has been in use every day providing us some comfort that we are being safe and careful during the pandemic. Students have been slowly come back to school and more than ever, we need to be vigilant about cleanliness and safety. We were very fortunate to have you support with cleaning materials that our students can use to wipe down their areas so they can focus on learning without being overly concerned about cleanliness.”

Funded Jan 14, 2020Thank you for your support in obtaining personal development which will help me bring coding to life for my students. Programming robots is the most interesting way I have found to share my love of coding with uninterested teenagers who thinking of coding as being exclusively for nerds. At this training I was able to have dedicated time to learn and practice the curriculum and I cannot wait to get this to my students. These kinds of opportunities are rare given the demands teachers are met with but are so vital to our professional development.”

Funded Nov 20, 2019Thank you very much for creating such a special holiday season for our students.
We used all the resources in our project during the last two weeks of school.
When my students walked into the class and saw the holiday decorations, they were very excited and loved to see our class in the holiday spirit. With your help, I was able to bring smiles and happiness to our students with candy canes and hot chocolate.
As I mentioned in the project description, our students come from humble backgrounds and often to get to experience the holidays like many other people their age with better economic situations.
The next step for our class is to plan out better and with student input how we can continue to bring these experiences to our classroom in more sustainable ways.”

Let's Get Our Clubs Popping (Popcorn)!
Funded Oct 24, 2019Thank you so much for supporting our school clubs with this popcorn machine. Our students were so excited to receive it and feel special every time we use it. With this project you are helping out students be excited about our clubs and school activites. As an educator, I am always looking for how to make our students feel special and bring them experiences that will bring some light into their lives. Many of our students have struggles that most adults never have to deal with being seperated from their families or having to taken on jobs outside of school. My students need all the love they can get and this project as one way we are giving them just that.”

Funded Oct 9, 2019My students were so excited when I announced, "today, you will be making your own tablets!!'". Students were so happy to step out of the usual routine and work collaboratively on their Kano Kits. I can confidently say that about 95% of my students have never seen computer hardware and as they got to touch and see the hardware pieces, I know they absorbed so much more knowledge than learning about it through a lecture on hardware.
Although I work with teens who are to cool for school, they suddenly morphed into the little kids they are in front of this toy. I laughed as I overheard them say, "no, that's not how it goes" and "let me do it!". The students had awonderful time using different senses to learn about a subject that is normally very dry.
On behalf of my students, I want to say thank you for giving us this awesome learning opportunity.”

Funded Sep 16, 2019Thank you for helping me give my students what they need-- some basic supplies. I have made a "Student Drawer" with the supplies I got from your donations and I added some additional supplies myself. Students now know that they have access to these basics supplies most adults taken for granted.
However, these are not mere supplies, they are an "I care" and "you matter" and that is a million times more meaningful. I had a student share with me that having these basic supplies shows that "teachers are people and they have hearts...that they care". This was a proud moment in my career as a teacher too because it brings me back to something that gets lost in all the fuss about grading and filling out paperwork-- that we are not only educating minds-- we are touching hearts. Thank you for your generosity in helping me giving students some solace and love in our school. You have made such an impact in countless lives and I hope that your generosity is multiplied in your own life as a result. Thank you on behalf of my student that missed breakfast, that is getting bullied because of their personal hygiene and that student that just needed to be noticed and cared for.
The next step for my students is to continue to use up the supplies in the drawer (that's what it's for!) and my job is to keep looking for resources when we run out so that they feel supported and loved.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Jimenez
