Literacy Access for All Readers
Funded May 6, 2022Thank you so much for your amazing contribution to my classroom. Your donations have allowed me to create a dream world of reading in my room. I currently work with special needs children in a bridge 3-5 class, many of my students have a hard time reading and focusing on their books. It was so important to me, to be able to provide students with on level texts that would be of interest to them, while also creating a warmth to reading in my room.
Using the book sets that I was able to order using your donations I have been able to not only expose my students to easier fiction texts that will keep their attention but also easier non-fiction texts. For many of my students, this is a new genre they are unlocking due to the fact that non-fiction texts tend to be harder to read.
I have been able to fill my library with comic books, realistic fiction, and non fiction texts about famous people, animals, and the earth. Thank you so much for your wonderful contribution and for helping me create a classroom that is truly welcome to all.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Taha

Funded Dec 12, 2019Thank you so much for your donations! My students were so excited when we unboxed all the materials together. Not only have my special needs students benefited but it has encouraged my general education students to engage in their learning as well. Before receiving the materials it was almost impossible to get certain students in my class to read for at least 20 minutes at a time. Now, when sitting on their wobbly chairs or in the comfy pillow, they read and read, and when time is up they ask for more time to read! I have never seen them so excited to do their work, whether it be reading or writing. The wobbly chairs allow for many of my ADHD students to rock back and forth with ease and without being a disruption to their fellow classmates, they find the rocking soothing and helps them to be more focused in the classroom. Certain students in my class who often fidget or rock in their seats have benefited from the cushions on their chairs. The new flexible seating has made a great difference in my classroom and my students and I cannot thank all of you enough!”
